Bright and beautiful poppies at Meyer House Care Home

Last week our residents at Meyer House Care Home got busy creating some wonderful handmade poppies, using bright red cupcake cases, green lolly sticks and black buttons. The finished flowers looked wonderful and will make super Remembrance decorations around our Home.

We are currently creating a 3 dimensional picture of a poppy to display at Meyer House which will make a fitting tribute on 11 November. We will also have a ‘Poppy cake’ to enjoy.

As part of the special Remembrance this year, we are collecting images and information about ‘Women in The War‘ as a topic for Remembrance Sunday. We also have an entertainer booked for Wednesday 7 November to take us all ‘Down Memory Lane’, with music from the wartime.

Last Thursday, two of our residents visited the cinema to see the Freddie Mercury ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ film. They enjoyed popcorn and treats and absolutely loved the film and whole cinema experience, which was super to hear.

We were fortunate recently to receive a wonderful raffle prize – a signed Charlton Athletic football – which was kindly donated to us by a relative. We will be holding our raffle this Friday 9 November and money raised will go to our Residents’ Fund to pay for an outing and treats!
