All the stops were pulled out on Thursday 12 September as we celebrated the 100th birthday of our beautiful resident Elsie Doreen, who is known by both her names.
Elsie enjoyed the company of her son Anthony who’d come all the way from South Africa for the celebrations with cousins, previous neighbours and all her friends and our team members at Meyer House.
Elsie also had a surprise when she realised Elvis was in the building and sang happy birthday to her! We decorated our lounge with a huge birthday banner, a gorgeous balloon arch and even an Elvis cut out! Elsie also received wonderful gold ‘100’ balloons.
Our special birthday girl enjoyed a delicious birthday cake with some bubbly, and received almost 100 cards, some of which had been sent by residents from other Nellsar Homes which was very special. She was also delighted to receive her birthday card from the king and queen – her face when Anthony presented it to her was an absolute picture!
Elsie enjoyed the whole afternoon and spent the next day going through her cards and presents.
We’re so glad we were able to celebrate with her on such a memorable and special day.
