Meyer House Care Home celebrates World Octopus Day

We marked World Octopus Day at Meyer House Care Home on Friday 8 October – any excuse for a celebration!

World Octopus Day celebrates one of the earth’s oldest creatures. The animal is best known for its eight legs and ink-squirting abilities. There are an incredible 300 species of octopuses and these clever sea creatures boast some 500 million neurons in their brains and arms!

We made our own edible octopuses; some healthy ones from strawberries and some sweeter ones using marshmallows and red sugar laces, yum!

Our ladies and gents also enjoyed some octopus themed colouring and word searches, followed by a fascinating documentary about the creatures.

A relaxing and informative afternoon!
