Meyer House Care Home residents create historic display for Nellsar Crafty Crown Competition

As part of the coronation celebrations at Meyer House Care Home, we entered a Nellsar-wide competition to design and make an eye-catching coronation crown.

Heading up the competition, Nellsar’s Recreation and Well-Being Manager Viv Stead commented: “The idea was to involve our residents in making something beautiful and memorable to display in their Home or garden that could be enjoyed by everyone for the coronation.”

Our residents’ family members made a magnificent crown, covered in jewels, which we displayed on a purple cushion next to a King Charles cut out. Our residents made a wonderful photo collage of the king’s life which, together with our Union Jack flags and red, white and blue balloon arch, made our coronation tribute complete.

Although we weren’t crowned amongst the winners, we had so much fun creating our wonderful display which made a great centrepiece for our coronation celebrations.

The judges commented: ‘A stunning crown made by some of their resident’s families, so good to get family members involved! A fantastic collage of the king’s life made by their residents – from a baby to our present king. And of course, some wonderful goody bags.’

Congratulations again to everyone at Meyer House involved in creating our fantastic entry for the competition.

Check out the winning entries and all the runners up!
