We may have a small size garden at Meyer House Care Home compared to other Nellsar Homes, but Laura our Receptionist thought it was worth entering a gardening competition organised by Bexley Council this year – ‘Bexley in Bloom‘.
The competition encouraged different businesses from around Bexley to participate and entries were independently judged by The London Gardens Society.
Imagine our delight when we received a Silver Certificate and £50 voucher for our ‘Container(s) Display Award Category‘ entry; such a lovely surprise! The Mayor of Bexley, Councillor Nick O’Hare, came to present our prize and congratulate us on our garden entry.
We were kindly helped by donations of hanging baskets and planters from families of previous residents. Our residents also planted their own sunflowers using the seeds they received in their Queen’s Jubilee goodie bags.
A real team effort – well done everyone!
